Freshman Campus Leadership Associates

The mission of the Freshman Campus Leadership Associates is to provide outstanding freshman students with the tools and opportunities to jump-start their leadership at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, while closely working with ASUN and the Lincoln community.

Freshman Campus Leadership Associates (FCLA) is an appointed group of twenty freshmen that serve as a liaison between the freshman class and the Association of Students of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. FCLA is a year-long appointment, with goals of introducing members to the construction and operation of student government, networking with other involved freshmen, leadership development, and preparation for future involvement within ASUN and in the greater UNL community. FCLA has several traditional projects, including the coordination of the annual homecoming parade, but also pursues projects which reflect the interests and passions of both its members and the freshman class as a whole. FCLA meets weekly at 4:00 PM on Wednesday afternoons.

committees:

ASUN Fun:
The ASUN Fun committee works to connect FCLA and ASUN as a whole. This committee brings ideas, projects, and fun from the ASUN executive team to FCLA. It is a committee that gets the chance to work with senators on projects and channel their enthusiasm and hard work into ASUN. Projects this committee works on vary from year to year based on what ASUN is working on at the time!

Communications:
The Communications committee is the public relations division of FCLA. They work to advertise FCLA events to the rest of campus and to get FCLA’s name out there. Communications also designs the t-shirts and plays a very large role in planning FCLA’s booth at UNL’s Big Red Road Show.

Philanthropy:
FCLA’s Philanthropy committee is focused on getting out and involved within the community, both on campus and off. Through volunteering and fundraising, the philanthropy committee focuses on making a difference, even in the smallest ways. For example, in 2011, FCLA hosted a Noodles and Company night benefiting the Friendship Home. They also volunteered at the Lincoln City Mission and the Malone Center as a group.

Campus Involvement:
Campus Involvement is a committee whose focus is to bring involvement opportunities from all around campus into FCLA for the group to learn about and to participate in. This committee is really the tie between FCLA and the rest of campus.
