Degree Audit Reporting
System
Your degree audit allows
you to keep track of what graduation requirements you have already fulfilled,
and which courses you still need to take.
This is not a substitution for your Student Bulletin or your advisor,
but it is a helpful tool in figuring out what you need to accomplish to earn
your degree!

Getting Extra Help!
Academic resource centers
can be a great way to get extra help. They are usually facilitated by teaching
assistants, but professors are often available as well. Aside from your professor’s office hours,
resource centers are a useful tool for getting help on topics you’re having
trouble with in class. Follow this link for more information on extra academic help: http://www.unl.edu/ous/academic_support/support.shtml
Undergraduate Creative Activities and Research Experiences (UCARE)
As a research institute, UNL offers a variety of research opportunities
that provide useful experience in different fields of study, while serving as
great resume boosters!
UCARE is a research program which pairs undergraduate students with faculty
members who are working on individual projects.
It is a two-year program which involves assisting the faculty member
with his or her research for one year, and then spearheading your own research
project the second year. UCARE projects
can also be used to fulfill Honors Program requirements!
Things to Think About
Before Becoming a Husker:
-Build up as much AP credit
as you can (without killing yourself)!
Ultimately it is cheaper
than regular tuition!
-If you don’t want to take
any summer classes during college, AP credit is a great way to get a head start
on your degree!
-Make sure you transfer all
college transcripts (dual enrollment) and AP credit prior to your first
semester at college – you won’t be allowed to register for second semester classes until all credits have been transferred
-Reserve your New Student
Enrollment (NSE) date as soon as
possible!
The longer you wait, the
less chance you have of getting the classes you want!
Make sure you read over the
information mailed to you after you reserve your date, because the actual day
of orientation is pretty fast-paced!
-Enjoy your last year in
high school as much as possible, but keep the future in the back of your
mind!
-Practice good study habits
now, so that college won’t be as much of a shock next year!
-It’s a lot harder to
simply coast through college –
getting a 4.0 is a lot harder than it sounds!
-It’s important to study
continuously each day, instead of saving everything for the last minute!
-Work hard during the week
so that you can enjoy your time off on the weekends!
