What Should I Do If I Receive A Three-Day Eviction Notice?

If you pay the rent within the three-day deadline, the landlord cannot evict you.

If you cannot pay the rent within the three-day deadline, you should contact an attorney immediately. If the landlord is going to evict you, s/he will file a proceeding in court that will call for a hearing within ten to fourteen days. You may need to prepare to move out of the apartment.

If you do have to move out you should be sure that you clean the apartment and try to get the landlord to do a walk through with you, or keep records (videotape or photos) of any damage to the apartment.
