Nebraska is an "At Will" employment state, which means that generally, an employee can be fired for any reason or for no reason at all. There are exceptions: Employees may generally not be fired on the basis of their race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information. For a more in depth explanation of impermissible discrimination, see the EEOC's website.
